As part of a major park development along the Eau Claire River, the City of Altoona partnered with Modular Trail Structures to create a custom boardwalk solution that would blend urban aesthetics with the natural beauty of the riverfront.

A Seamless, Flowing Design

One of the city’s key design goals was to avoid sharp angles and instead create a smooth, continuous flow throughout the park path. MTS delivered a perfect radius boardwalk, bending steel to achieve elegant curves and centering the footings beneath the frames to keep them hidden from view—enhancing both form and function.

Engineered for Strength and Style

The boardwalk also features two H5-rated free-span bridges that cross a man-made stream within the park. These bridges meet high structural standards while maintaining the clean, modern aesthetic of the overall design.
