Huff Park

Grand Rapids, MI

Designing a boardwalk for Huff Park in Grand Rapids came with unique challenges. The trail winds through a heavily forested area with numerous twists and turns, and limited access to the site made installation especially difficult. To overcome these obstacles, the City of Grand Rapids turned to Modular Trail Structures.

Collaborative, Site-Specific Solutions

MTS worked closely with the installing contractor to develop a “top-down” installation method tailored to the site’s constraints. The boardwalk was built and shipped in the exact order requested by the contractor, allowing each section to be used immediately as a platform for transporting materials and continuing installation.

Minimal Impact, Maximum Efficiency

This innovative approach eliminated the barrier of limited access and ensured minimal environmental impact to the park’s natural surroundings. The result was a seamless installation process and a boardwalk that blends beautifully into the forested landscape.
